Weekend

Saturday morning I did a drop in at Cycle U (I'm only signed up for Tues & Thurs) but since I'm going to miss a lot of November I thought I'd get as much time in there as possible.  So far (the first week) we did some power building, some tempo and some threshold.  The wattage all looks about the same, with the cadence and the heart rate changing (that is, when I get out of that comfortable 80-85 cadence an up to 95, heart rate takes a jump).

We got to watch the start of the Ironman in Hawaii on the live feed from ironmanlive.com (instead of the usual bike racing videos).  And, to my surprise, Nike and Darlene from the bike group showed up so I had some company.

Sunday was group run from Gasworks, 9 miles, around Lake Union, in the rain.  It really wasn't to bad as the rain slacked off a bit.  I think we had maybe a group of six to start with, June, Niki (2), Cari(?), Laura and a little later Becka.  Had a little pause at the beginning because the Fremont bridge went up.  I dropped back somewhere around South Lake Union to run with June who was hanging back (even though the pace felt painfully slow, my HR was about 140).  We caught some of the group at the top of the hill and stayed together until we got on to the BG.  At the Burke Gilman, I left the group by picking up the pace a little, not paying any attention to HR, just how I felt.  Back at Gasworks, my watch should have stopped at 1:47:23, but after walking around for a while I noticed it still running (Crap!).  Finally stopped it at 1:54:something.  Downloading at home I noticed my HR was way above normal...  like average was 152, peaking at 212...   crap!  was that real?  I didn't feel badly, dizzy or anything like that.  I admit that at one point I was thinking about Chris McCormack's finish the day before (although I had no sponges to throw out).
